Background

Since its founding by the APF in 1980, the Fondation Donatien-Frémont has encouraged 350 students to pursue studies in communications by awarding more than $300 000 in scholarships.

Donatien Frémont

Born in Brittany in 1881, Donatien Frémont left France in 1906 to become a pioneer settler in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In 1916, he returned to his first loves, writing and journalism. He made his career in the French-language press in Saskatchewan (1916-1923), Manitoba (1923-1941), Ottawa, and finally, Montreal. He died in Montreal in 1967.
